[I am always on the lookout for the next thing over the horizon in terms of technology. I was doing my usual snooping around online and stumbled upon this story:
The story and attached video describe an input device that uses the skin of your forearm and hand as a canvas for a pico-projector and a vibration detector as the input controller. I find the accuracy of this technology questionable, however, I do not claim to be an expect in bio-input technology, so let us assume it works as well as the video shows.
This technology could have some really amazing possibilities in terms of literally putting one’s data at their fingertips. I for one would love to have the ability to be able to dial a phone number or check e-mail or text messages without having to pull out any sort of device.
Now, if we could only get sub-cutaneous microphones and speakers, pair them with this sort of input and we will finally be able to walk down the street and seemingly tap random parts of our arms while looking at our hands and talking to ourselves. That is what I call progress.
